OpenAI's Two-Pronged Approach

OpenAI currently utilizes a hybrid approach for watermarking DALL-E 3 images. The first is a visible cluster of colored squares placed in the bottom right corner of the image. The second, and far more intrusive, is the implementation of C2PA Content Credentials.

The C2PA Threat

Every image exported from ChatGPT contains a cryptographic manifest detailing the software used. If you post this image online, social networks can read this metadata, automatically label the content as "AI Generated," and potentially shadowban or downrank your post based on their algorithm's bias against AI content. Always strip your metadata before posting.
